  Nothing like advertised, smelly room above kitchen so ending up smelling of fried chips by the morning. No bar staff to serve, overpriced food.

  Sadly, I cannot give any lower than 1star. My husband and I booked two nights here and dissapointed that this hotel can even call themselves a 4 star.
  First issue- Rooms are in desperate need for redecorating- the wall paper was peeling, the ceiling paper was peeling. There were 3 deep chips in the the sink and were stained a nasty yellow colour. The radiator was rusty and paint chipping off
  2nd issue- the maid clearly could not be bothered to tidy our room. The bed wasn't made, there was a thick layer of dust where the tv was and behind. Bathroom towels merely replaced.
  3rd and worst issue- Ants had invaded our room, there were ants inside the cupboard, all over our clothes and on the desk. We killed as many as we could and left the ant bodies for the cleaner to (hopefully) clean up. The room felt dirty and I was so uncomfortable knowing that ants are everywhere and could of been crawling all over us during our sleep. Sadly the hotel was booked and no alternative room available.
  
  Deeply disappointing. I have contacted Mercure regarding the issue and no-one has come back to me with regards to apology etc.
